About ME

HOW IT ALL STARTED

My son Callan and I started backpacking when he was about ten years old.  From our first steps on trail we fell in love with it and have been addicted to it ever since.

We’ve been lucky enough to visit some of our nation’s most iconic trails and we’ve had incredible experiences, both wonderful and terrifying.

upcoming projects

I’m currently working on a guide to thru-hiking the Ice Age Trail (IAT), specifically focused on camping options.  Where most trails have abundant camping options, the IAT runs through much private land and has many extensive roadwalks, making finding a spot to pitch your tent quite difficult.  Although I have no plans to thru-hike it myself in one go, I’m hiking it piece by piece to best understand the camping options people have in each section.

In 2023 Callan and I plan to spend more time on the Colorado Trail.  If time allows, we’ll complete the 350ish miles we have left.  If not, we may have to do it in two years.
