I started backpacking about nine years ago with my son Callan who was ten years old at the time. From the first steps on trail we were both hooked. Each year we took on bigger challenges, including the Grand Tetons, Wind River Range, Black Elk Wilderness, John Muir Trail and many more. In 2021 we attempted a thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail, but met a disappointing end at mile 478.5 when Callan suffered a leg injury. After a two-month recovery we headed east and completed the Vermont Long Trail, symbolically finishing at the Canadian border. 2022 included several hikes in the midwest and a 120 mile section hike of the Colorado Trail. In the future, we hope to hike the Superior Hiking Trail, the Ice Age Trail (about 300 miles done so far), the Arizona Trail and pick up where we left off on both the Colorado Trail and the PCT.
